Fa’amele Etuale: Calling Heaven

Through her diverse and innovative art forms, Fa’amele Etuale invites you to immerse yourself in a world where you can dream of endless possibilities, envisioning a realm in which heaven and space cannot separate us from our cherished loved ones.

Imagine if you could call them - who would you reach out to, and what heartfelt words would you share?

Walking into the Māngere Arts Centre hallway on the opening day of ‘Calling Heaven,’ I could hear the gentle reverberation of conversations coming from the gallery, where family members, close friends, work colleagues, and supporting artists mingled with community leaders, Pacific artists, and gallery officials.

This warm gathering, collectively set an uplifting tone for the show and the inviting space it occupied.

Fa’amele’s work masterfully navigates themes of sadness, love, connection and longing, offering an enchanting journey that is both deeply personal and poignant.

Calling Heaven is at Māngere Arts Centre | Ngā Tohu o Uenuku from 6 July - 10 August 2024.
